Michael Patton wonders if God will really allow death bed conversions of murderers and child molesters? He struggles with the apparent difficulty that a postmodern culture has accepting such a radical premise.

That’s a really good
That’s a really good article. Although i don’t think i ever have much chance of evangelizing to people who watch Fox News. :-P
One other point that i would add is, when the “objector” takes it as unfair for a murderer or rapist to receive the same grace offered to them, the objector is implicitly affirming that her sins aren’t nearly as bad as murder or rape. Of course that’s a very easy proposition to accept in the earthly sense: The damage done by “mere” rebellion against the Creator of the Universe may not look as bad as murder or rape to those who aren’t sensitized to recognize the gravity of all sin. But of course the Bible teaches differently. So that’s part of the tough sell (good thing it’s the Spirit, not us, who have to make that tough sell): Believe that you or i are every bit as culpable as the obvious sinners in our society.
But i like the part about connecting emotionally. We talked a bit about this on Monday: Even when people raise rational objections to Christianity, there’s usually an underlying aversion to the faith based on experience. If people’s first-hand experience with the Church is that we’re all bitter or hypocritical or stuck up, it’s going to be nigh impossible to present apologetic arguments.
