Returning to Rome

I’ve been following this for a few days now. Francis Beckwith, President of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) - and one of the strongest contemporary Christian evangelical apologists - has returned to his Roman Catholic roots. He had resigned as President of ETS. Because of growing conflict over his conversion, he has now resigned completely from ETS.

The ETS doctrinal statement is:

“The Bible alone, and the Bible in its entirety, is the Word of God written and is therefore inerrant in the autographs. God is a Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each an uncreated person, one in essence, equal in power and glory.”

That’s it.

This raises an interesting point. ETS currently has several practicing Open Theists members (Beckwith is not) that are apparently welcome to remain in ETS (at least for the time being). So Open Theists are welcome to remain … while an evangelical Roman Catholic is apparently not welcome. Hmmmm.
